When I saw Brave, I noticed that the Queen’s dress reminded me a lot of Sargent’s painting of Ellen Terry as Lady Macbeth. When I got home and looked up pictures of it, there was no doubt in my mind that it was inspired by the dress. It’s almost exact. Even her hair is the same. 

The dress is currently being restored, which is a painstaking process due to the beetle wings on the dress. Even Queen Elinor’s dress had the beetle wing sparkles!

Oh, my gosh, YES! Wow, good catch!

I enjoyed that Elinor was played by Emma Thompson, who played Elinor in the film version of Sense & Sensibility, which is how I became familiar with her.
